Aleesha Towns-Bain

Aleesha Towns-Bain is a Senior Program Associate at the Rasmuson Foundation and brings to her work an experience in building and strengthening communities that is drawn from her background in journalism and public relations.

Most recently, she was the editor of the Crested Butte News, a weekly newspaper in Colorado. She was honored several times by the Colorado Press Association for her journalism, and helped lead the newspaper to an editorial sweepstakes award in 2004. Aleesha has also been recognized by the Northwest Journalists of Color and the Native American Journalists Association.

In addition to her work as a journalist, Aleesha worked in Washington D.C. for boutique public relations firms specializing in Native American issues. She is a graduate of Bristol Bay Native Corporation's Training Without Walls Program, designed for emerging leaders.

Aleesha has a Bachelor of Arts degree with concentrations in journalism and Native American studies from The Evergreen State College and is currently pursuing a Masters in Strategic Communications/ Media Management from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Her mother's side of the family has its roots in Pilot Point. She is married to Cameron Bain and they have a happy golden retriever named Milo.
